Stay Strong, Mary

My mom is going downhill quickly. She seems to be in a lot of pain, and we give her morphine to try to help her sleep, but you know that you can't give too much of that in a day...

She's very disorientated, she can't really speak well either. she seems so frustrated too, that inside her she wants to say a million things, but physically can't get them out, and it has to be bothering her so much...

It was a rough night again last night. She was in pain a lot. My sister or I would check on her at least every hour.

It's just so hard to see my mom going through this pain..

Please keep praying...

the past couple of days have been not so good. today has been the worst so far. mary really can't get up or move on her own, and she seems more delusional. she's also starting feeling a lot of pain in her hips and back. we have to give her a small dosage of morphine.

please just keep praying for her..

Big Bird Days

Hey Everyone, just giving a little update on Mary.

She's still fighting the good fight, she's staying very positive about the whole situation and is still finding the humor :]

And what's with the title of this blog entry? Well due to the jaundice caused by this terrible disease, her skin has become yellow-ish, and some days are better than others. On her really yellow days, she says she's having a big bird day. I guess it doesnt help that she has little chicken arms now ;]

She also has really enjoyed the visitors that have stopped by the past couple days, and really has had a few good laughs as well. And great thanks goes out to Mrs. Sakal [Slagle] for giving my mom the haircut she's been craving since she went into the hospital! Now, I don't want to sound pushy or anything, but if you do choose to come visit with Mary, please try to keep the visit to about 30-45 minutes due to she gets worn out easily these days, and really can't sit up for long periods of time. Thank you in advance :]

And thank you times a million to everyone who has brought us meals, and thank you times a gazillion to you all for still keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. It truly means so much to all of us crazies on 98th Place :]

1st Blog!

Thank you to Phil Egan for kindly making this blog possible!

As you all know, Mary is currently battling Pancreatic cancer. It has spread to her liver, and her liver is starting to shut down. She really does not have any pain at the moment. She's staying strong and still is able to find the humor in things.

"When I lose my sense of humor, that's when you need to start worrying."-Mary.

As a family, this is tough news to handle, but we are all hanging in there and staying strong for her and for each other.

We cannot thank you all enough for all that you have done for our family. Meals, prayers, and just being great friends. You are all so amazing, and we are so fortunate to have you all in our lives!

On her good days, she may be up for vistiors, but please call first. It takes her awhile to get to the phone as well.

I(Nicole) will be working out my work schedule to where I will be home a few days during the week if anything needs to be done or if anyone would want to stop by the house.

We met with Hospice today, and the meeting went well. The ladies were very informative and very sweet. Right now, they'll just be sending a nurse out to just check her vitals and whatever else she may need.

I just ask of everyone to keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!

I'll update as much as possible!
